Saw Grizzly Man and Lord Of War recently. Rare to for me to see two movies I really liked back to back. Grizzly is an unusual documentary, opinionated and complex. I think Hertzog underplayed the subjects tendancies towards acting as a factor of his motivation, but otherwise it was spot on. Lord Of War was more just complex, a movie that makes you think about your opinions regarding weapons of war by creating a likable person who you don’t want to like. The last line, which I don’t think is a spoiler, is “that’s the lesson of life. Don’t go to war, especially with yourself,” left me hanging with no easy answers and a mirror in front of me.
