Moving to SF via BM

General

I’m happy to say that I’m finally moving back to the Bay Area. Details below. Posts to follow.

I’m driving out after my current tech consulting contract at Antioch Graduate School’s library by way of Burning Man, where I’ll be volunteering. I’m taking the 80, leaving Southern NH Aug. 23rd and I have room for a rider. In SF I’ll be staying with John Lowry in Potrero Hill until I find a place.

Any help you all might be able to give me finding the following things would be great:

I’m into helping folks out on things they need, or work on projects, when I arrive as well.

-> BM: I’m looking to align myself with a BM camp. I’ve got friends I’m meeting, but not with a big camp yet. I’m looking for good folks, fun, healthy, participatory, not hard partying…most of the time.) I’ll have my own car and beater bike.

-> Housing: Looking for a room in a communal situation with 3-6 good solid folks probably near GG park or in North Berkeley. I like wood, old things, academics, sane, mostly sober living, etc. I’m living in a five bedroom now and we keep it clean, etc. so I have references for playing nice with others. I’m omnivorous, pet-less (love cats), quiet, clean, active and mostly sober.

-> Work: I’d like to help out folks working in technology/media in non-profits, academic computing, R&D, or small projects. I’m happy to start cheap and part-time with good folks. Generally I’ll also be looking for my usual work with academic and non-profit institutions in the areas of educational technology/instructional design and media in management, teaching, documenting type areas. Part or full time.

-> Fun: I’ll looking for healthy things to do around town and beyond. I’m into biking, hiking, disc golf, walking (with a little running) in parks, working out, music, and still the occasional dive bar.

-> Travel: I’m into following the X-Prize closely this year, so trips to Mojave may be in order. Sundance is on.

-> Goals: I’m slowly moving more toward expressive work in and around the area of new media journalism, probably an MA in UCB’s J School because, well, I just love universities. So any freelance writing, video (I’ve got a low end 3CCD Panasonic) would be great too.
